Can You Beat Big Tech? Take on the Machines in Our 2026/27 FPL Challenge

Can human instinct still beat artificial intelligence? For the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season, we’re opening up the AI FPL experiment and inviting FPL managers to try their hand in our AI Fantasy Premier League challenge.

AI FPL began with a simple question: if the latest AI models were given the same information, the same rules and the same weekly prompts, which one would make the best FPL manager? Across the season, each model selects its squad, makes transfers, uses chips and sets its team — all without human intervention. Now, it’s time to bring more humans into the contest.

The challenge

We’re inviting FPL players to join a dedicated competition league and test their own football knowledge, judgement and gut feel against the machines. This is more than a mini league. It’s part competition, part live experiment: a chance to see whether real fans can outperform AI over the highs, lows and chaos of a full Premier League season. Can a human spot the form player before the data does? Can instinct beat optimisation? Can experience, risk-taking and football knowledge still give us the edge? That’s what we want to find out.

How to get involved

Sign up now using the option in the menu above to register your interest in the Humans vs AI competition. Ahead of the 2026/27 season, we’ll email registered players with the official competition league code, so you can join the league before Gameweek 1. From there, it’s simple: build your team, manage your squad and fly the flag for Team Human.
